Manager & Deputies Role overview

Manager

The Nursery Manager oversees all operations, ensuring the setting complies with health, safety, and education standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing staff recruitment, training, and development.
  • Planning and implementing the nursery’s curriculum and activities.
  • Ensuring policies are adhered to, including safeguarding, health, and hygiene standards.
  • Managing the budget, resources, and parent communications.
  • Observing and assessing children’s development to ensure high-quality care.

Deputy Manager

The Deputy Manager supports the Manager and steps in during their absence. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Assisting with the implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Supervising staff, managing shifts, and ensuring smooth daily operations.
  • Supporting curriculum delivery and planning activities.
  • Helping to monitor children’s progress and well-being.
  • Acting as a point of contact for staff, parents, and external agencies in the Manager’s absence.

Both roles focus on maintaining a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can thrive.
