My first week

By now you should have had the chance to 

1. Understand the routines

2.Undertake 2-3 activities in the room

3.Read the planning and see how it all fits

4.Mock in and emmerse yourself in daily activities

5.Once your DBS is available do go through the nappy changing policy again with your room leader and manager and be part of the team

6. The HR manager would have called you to check on you.  If this is not the case please drop her an email

7. Review your notes and be ready for another great time ahead. 

8.Walk into work with a big smile as your greet the parents in the most friendly way.

Induction

Just for info

1. You should have an induction by the HR manager to cover safer recruitment

2. You should have had an induction by the nursery manager to cover nursery expectations

3. By now you should know your buddy and shadow them

Drop in sessions with Room leader

For Managers 

Check in with the Area manager /EYFS lead to ensure you understand the floor processes

In addition to your main role, you will be expected to

  • Help assist in the kitchen
  • Tidy up

10 Activities a new starter can do with the children

Cutting Paper Scissors During free play 1. Paper with visible lines to cut ia provided 2. Children are shown how to cut 3. Left hand scissors also to be provided
Threading Threading board or string and beads During free play Threads and buttons
Lego Lego Blocks During free play Lego, build a base
Stickle Bricks Stickley Bricks  Structure activity Make a house
PLay dough  Play Dough  Structure activity Allow them to make a house  or a face
Tough Tray  Tough Tray with Activity  During free play Read the 3 Is on the tuff tray and ask the children 3-5 questions about what is on the tuff tray
Home corner assist children  None- Let them free play to be watched over  During free play Get them to dress up, to cook, to talk about their family
Mark make with crayons PAper and crayoons Structure activity Give the children colouring to do - name the colours they are to pick
Find the missing object 5 -7 objects Structure activity Out the object together in a tray and take one out one at a time, ask the children what the missing item is. Then they close their eyes again and repeat the game
